Club Salino is mainly a residential area where some people live all year around. Some of these people are working and some have retired. There are also families that spend a couple of months down here and yet some others that only spend a week or two in the sun. Some people let and some do not.

With this in mind it is quite easy to understand that we have to establish some basic rules regarding what you can, and can not do, in order to make life bearable for all of us. These rules were set out at the Annual General Meeting, which is the highest authority in the community of property owners, and these are rules that everyone must abide by regardless of if you are permanently resident or if you are here on a one or two week holiday. If we all stick to these rules then it will be so much easier for all of us.

What the symbols mean

In order to make it easier to understand what the different symbols on the noticeboard mean we will here explain them in detail and also why the rules are there in the first place.

1. Pool is open from 9am - 10pm  (09:00 -22:00)
Why? There are several reasons for this. One is that the pool is sometimes cleaned and disinfected during the night. Another is to give people living next to the pool some peace and quiet. Consideration for others in other words.

2. Children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult
Why? This is for the safety of the children themselves as well as consideration for other people in and around the pool. Children at that age may perhaps not realise that there is a deep end in the pool and if they are not supervised and enter the pool without being able to swim they may drown and we want to avoid that.

3. Shower properly before you enter the pool
Why? Most sun creams are not waterproof or water-resistent even though it says so on the bottle. Quite a lot of the sun cream comes off when you are in the pool. This is why you sometimes can see a greasy stripe on the pool-wall just above the water level. You can also see it at night if you look at the water surface since it adds a shimmering look to it. On top of this, the pumps and filters used for cleaning the water is also damaged by the sun-creme. So PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, shower properly before you enter the pool. If you do not do this then we may have to close down the pool temporarily for maintenance and we do not want to do that to often.

4. No litter. Please keep Club Salino nice and tidy
Why? Since we all want Club Salino to be nice and tidy please use the bins placed in the pool area. If you are a smoker, take care of the cigarette ends, use an ashtray. Do not just dump them on the lawn. If you are bringing plastic bottles or cans to the pool area, make sure you take them with you when you leave the pool area. Regardless of if you are resident or a holidaymaker you would not like to see a pool area full of plastic bottles, cans, cigarette ends and other bits and pieces so keep it tidy.

5. Only bathing clothes in the pool.
Why? There are a couple of reasons for this. The first one being that the pH-value in the pool drops dramatically after just one day if a few people are using T-shirts. The pH-value is in some respect a measurement of the quality of the water in the pool and if it drops below a certain level then we may have to close down the pool temporarily for maintenance. Another reason is that there is always tiny bits of fabric coming off T-shirts and trousers when in water and these tiny bits end up in the filters and the pumps which will eventually damage them resulting in that we have to close down the pool temporarily and replace them. So please do not use T-shirts, trousers, shoes and other clothes that are not meant to be used in a pool.

6. No ball games.
Why? In order to avoid having balls being thrown or kicked around all over the place they have been banned. The main reason is of course consideration for other people in and around the pool. Some people want to have a quiet swim and yet some other like to read a book and they have every right to do so without having to fear that sooner or later they are going to be hit by a ball. Another reason is that if a wet ball ends up on the lawn it will have grass and mud on it. This will of course come off in the pool ending up in the filters and the pumps resulting in the same measures as with wearing the wrong clothes in the pool.

7. No glass, bottles or other items made of glass.
Why? Self-explanatory really. Bringing glasses, bottles or other items made of glass to the pool area will sooner or later result in that one or more breaks and a worst case scenario would be if it, or parts of it, ends up in the pool. It is so hard to get rid of every tiny bit of glass, especially if it has ended up in the pool, so please do not bring anything made of glass into the pool area.

8. No food in the pool.
Why? Also self-explanatory really. Food and pools do not mix. If some of your sandwich, or what ever it is you are eating, ends up in the pool it will not only be disgusting to see it will also decrease the quality of the water and finally end up in the filters and pumps resulting in the same measures as with wearing clothes in the pool. So use common sense. Eat at home and then use the pool for other activities.

9. No noise.
Why? As stated in the initial paragraph, this is basically a residential area where some people live all year round. Having to put up with noise day in and day out would be unbearable, especially if you live next to the pool. The silver bullet here is consideration for others, use common sense and keep the noise down. If you want to listen to music while you are in the poolarea, use headphones.

10. No diving.
Why? The main reason is of course consideration for other people in and around the pool. Some people want to have a quiet swim and yet some other like to read a book and they have every right to do so without having to fear that their book is going to be ruined by a splash or two. Another reason is safety. In the shallow end of the pool the depth is only 60-70 cm so you could easily hit the bottom of the pool and that may result in serious injuries.

11. No rough play.
Why? Wrestling, and other similar activities, does not belong to normal pool activities. If you want to do that, do it somewhere else. The pool area is there for recreation and once again, this is out of consideration for other people. Finally, do not push people into the pool.

12. No animals.
Why? Some people have problems when they are close to cats, dogs and other animals. Allowing animals in the pool would certainly stop these people from using the pool and we do not want that to happen. The pool is there for us to use. It is not meant for pets of any kind. There is also another reason and that is that cats and dogs all have furs and parts of the fur will come off in the water and later on end up in the filters and pumps resulting in the same measures as with wearing clothes in the pool. On top of that, allergic people would definitely get an allergic reaction if pets were allowed in the pool so no animals in the pool or pool area.

13. No inflatables.
Why? There are a couple of reasons for this. One reason is that toddlers may not realise that a lilo is not a solid object and if they, from the poolside, put their feet down on a lilo it may easily result in that the lilo slips away and the child may bang the back of his/her head on the edge of the pool. This is something that we want to avoid. Also, the pool is rather small and a lilo takes up quite a lot of space making it even smaller. So, in order to give as many people as possible the opportunity to use the pool, no lilos please.
